A healthcare administrator with more than three decades of experience, Donald A. Hislop has served as Associate Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico since 2019. In addition to assisting with recruitment, Donald A. Hislop supports the Memorial Medical Center in all aspects of patient care.
Through a new partnership with the Human Milk Repository of New Mexico (HMRNM), Memorial Medical Center recently became the first Milk Bank Donation Station in the state. While breast milk is the optimal food for newborns, not all mothers can produce their own. The HMRNM is currently working to set up milk donation centers throughout the state to help keep milk donation local. Through the partnership, HMRNM provided Memorial with a freezer, thermometers, lock, and other materials necessary for the storage of donated breast milk.
The program is another commitment of Memorial to maintaining its status as a Baby-Friendly Hospital. A designation created by the \World Health Organization and UNICEF, Baby-Friendly Hospitals provide high levels of support for newborns and breastfeeding mothers.
